Karen Berlin’s Pursuit Path LLC offers customized career plans for the finance sector. She was formerly the president and managing director of The PeliKan Group Inc., providing solutions for companies looking to attract top talent.
Prior to opening her own business, Berlin was the VP of Professional Development at BMO Capital Markets. She was responsible for the Continuous Professional Development program for all investment banking professionals, as well as coaching and mentoring junior professionals through the challenging first years of a banking career.
Before joining BMO, Berlin worked on contract at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and for nearly two decades worked in New York as a senior recruiter, manager, and strategic program designer at various investment banking firms including Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, and Lehman Brothers. She studied at the University of Waterloo, pursued a professional dance career, and then completed a Lakehead University BA.

An expert in monetary and financial systems, Tiff Macklem has contributed numerous articles to academic journals, as well as to books and conference volumes.
He has served as Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada, sharing responsibility with the Governor and four Deputy Governors for monetary policy and the Bank’s role in promoting financial stability. In that role, he was also the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer and a member of its board of directors, overseeing strategic planning and coordinating the Bank’s operations. Macklem has also played a leading role in efforts to ensure stable financial systems worldwide through the G20 and the Financial Stability Board.
Prior to his appointment at the Bank, Macklem was Associate Deputy Minister of the federal Department of Finance and Canada’s Finance Deputy at the G7 and G20. He also served as chair of the Standing Committee on Standards Implementation of the Financial Stability Board. In that role, he worked to establish an international system of peer review to promote and assess the implementation of new financial standards across the 24 most financially important countries in the world.
During his time at Rotman, Macklem has become the chair of the Board of the Global Risk Institute in Financial Services, a director of the Scotiabank Board and a member of the Asia Business Leaders Advisory Council.
PAUL MASTRODICASA, MFE

Since 2006 Paul Mastrodicasa has worked as a liability trader at RBC Capital Markets in the Institutional Equity Department, focusing mainly on energy-related equities.
Subsequent to earning a BA in economics he became dissatisfied with the available career opportunities and remedied that by pursuing the Master of Financial Economics program at U of T, taking full advantage of the opportunity to develop his professional skills.
DANILO SIMONELLI, MFE

Danilo Simonelli manages the team that is responsible for the OTTP hedge funds program. He joined OTTP in 2005 as part of the Emerging Markets Fixed Income team, and has previously been director of Fixed Income & Currencies as well as of Alternative Investments. Simonelli also serves on the Counterparty Credit Committee, a cross-department group that reports to the Fund’s Investment Committee on decisions related to bilateral agreements with banks and dealers.
A former board member of Cordiant Capital, he has worked at JPMorgan in its London office as a member of the debt capital markets origination group, covering European financial institutions and the Italian Republic.
Simonelli holds an honours BA in Finance and Economics from Milan’s Bocconi University and a Master in Financial Economics from the University of Toronto. He is a CFA charterholder and holds ICD.D certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Until February 2008, Harold Wolkin was a managing director in the Diversified Industries Group of BMO Capital Markets. He entered the investment industry in 1976 as a financial analyst and economist and in 1983 joined BMO Nesbit Burns as a senior research analyst responsible for management and diversified companies. In 1992 he moved to BMO Nesbit Burns Investment and Corporate Banking Group.
Over the following 15 years he was a lead underwriter for a number of Canada’s largest equity offerings. Wolkin was also responsible for many initial public offerings and equity financings for a wide range of issuers and advised numerous corporations on mergers and acquisitions.
Wolkin received a BA (Economics) degree from York University and an MA (Economics and Finance) degree from the University of Toronto.
