About

The Master of Financial Economics (MFE) is a world-class limited-enrollment professional program offered by the University of Toronto’s Department of Economics in collaboration with the Rotman School of Management. It provides a broad understanding of financial theory and the economics framework upon which that theory is based. Students are equipped with the knowledge and tools required to build successful careers in finance through both the classroom and work experience in the financial services sector.

MFE Berkowitz Lecture 2026

The 2026 Annual Berkowitz Lecture, will be delivered by Ralph Ossa, Chief Economist of the Word Trade Organization (WTO) from January 2023 to June 2025. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about international trade and tariffs!

MFE Alumni Association

We would like to welcome the new leadership of the MFE Alumni Association (MFEAA): President Martina Irinkov, Class of 2012, and Chair Nadine St. Pierre, Class of 2017. Joining them in the Board of Directors are Olivier Ruta (Class of 2007) as Director of Alumni Relations, Jonathan Guilford (Class of 2011) as Director of Program Relations, and Karin Peride Hauptricht (Class of 2023) as Director of Student Relations.
